The Chinese government has imposed a ban on the production, sales, and use of disposable foam plastic tableware from January 1, 2001, for the following reasons
The Chinese government has imposed a ban on the production, sales, and use of disposable foam plastic tableware from January 1, 2001, for the following reasons:
1. It is difficult to recycle and reuse foam plastic tableware after use and disposal;
2. The foaming agent used in some enterprises' production is butane (i.e. the gas used in lighters), which is prone to ignition and unsafe;
3. The product is easy to dissolve harmful substances at high temperatures (>65 ℃), making it unsafe to use, especially when used in a microwave oven;
4. The product has a large volume and is inconvenient for transportation and storage;
5. Not easy to decompose, polluting the environment, and high recycling costs;
6. Alternative products (corn starch tableware) have emerged.
